Plumbing, sanitary, and drainage systems are important building services that work together to provide clean water and safely remove wastewater. The plumbing system supplies clean and safe water from the main water source to different parts of the building through pipes, storage tanks, pumps, valves, taps, and fittings. The sanitary system provides facilities for personal hygiene and the collection of wastewater and human waste through appliances such as water closets (WC), urinals, wash basins, sinks, and showers. The drainage system then carries wastewater and sewage away from the building through waste pipes, soil pipes, traps, vent pipes, inspection chambers, and underground drains to the sewer or treatment system. In simple terms, the plumbing system brings clean water into the building, the sanitary system allows the water to be used safely, and the drainage system carries the wastewater away.
