INSTITUTE OF BRUNEI TECHNICAL EDUCATION (IBTE) SIGNS MOU WITH PANTAI JERUDONG SPECIALIST CENTRE (PJSC)

Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, 21 Syawal 1440 corresponding to 22 June 2019. The signing ceremony which took place at the Lecture Theatre, RF Floor at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre opens up ways for the two organizations to collaborate in areas such as training.

Present as the guest of honour and to witness the signing was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at The Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II at the Ministry of Finance and Economy who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors, PJSC. Also attending and witnessing the event was Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh Deputy Minister of Education cum Chairperson of Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei, Board of Governors. Among those invited to the event were Dr Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, Members of Board of Directors of PJSC and Board of Governors of IBTE and senior officials from both organizations.

The afternoon event started with the recital of the surah Al-Fatihah and du’a selamat led by Ustaz Haji Iskandar bin Haji Buntar, Religious Officer of The Brunei Cancer Centre (TBCC). This was followed by the welcoming remarks delivered by Yang Mulia, Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar, Executive Director of PJSC. The event continued with the signing ceremony and signing on behalf of IBTE was Dr Haji Mohd Zamri Bin Hj Sabli, Acting Director of Technical Education and Acting CEO, IBTE and Yang Mulia, Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar, Executive Director of PJSC, signed on behalf of PJSC.

Under the MOU, the two organizations expressed their intention to establish, promote and develop collaboration within the scope of their mandates and sphere of competences in the fields of education and training programmes of mutual interest. This marks the strong commitment of both agencies in providing quality and competent workforce for the development of the country by providing the students and trainees with the knowledge and necessary skills.

The collaboration between IBTE and PJSC started in April 2016 and currently there are 3 training programmes being conducted namely Diploma in Operating Theater Assistant, Diploma in Palliative Nursing and NTec in Caregivers (Cancer Care). The duration for the training programmes is in accordance with the programme guide and may run for a period of 12 months to 24 months.
