DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF SINGAPORE VISITS IBTE PLM CAMPUS
His Excellency Mr Teo Chee Hean, the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore as well as the Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore and the Singapore delegation visited IBTE Pusat Latihan Mekanik campus in Kg Tungku on Wednesday 7 October 2015. His entourage consisted of several ministers from Singapore including Ms Grace Fu the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth; the Senior Minister of States Ms Indranee Rajah (Finance and Law) and Ms Sim Ann (Culture, Community and Youth, and Finance); as well as Minister of State (Communications and Information, and Health) Mr Chee Hong Tat. He was also accompanied by the High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Mr Jaya Ratnam.
Mr Teo Chee Hean is in Brunei to attend the 3rd Young Leaders’ Programme, which aims to strengthen ties between Brunei and Singapore, particularly between the younger generations of leaders. Present at the event were YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr Awg Hj Abu Bakar Bin Hj Apong, the Minister of Education , and Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Yussof Bin Hj Awang Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Education as well as Dato Paduka Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah Chairman of IBTE Board of Governors. Also in attendance were Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Education and the Prime Minister’s Office, senior officers from both ministries and officers from Institute of Brunei Technical Education.
The delegation’s arrival was greeted with the sound of the traditional musical instrument, hadrah which created a warm welcoming atmosphere to the visitors. After signing the commemorative plaque, Mr Teo Chee Hean and the Singapore delegates were ushered into the Conference Room where the event was to take place. The delegates were briefed on the progress of the technical education transformation in Brunei Darussalam by Dr Chin Wei Keh, the Chief Executive Director of IBTE cum Director of Technical Education.
Dr Sheikh Lukman Bin Sheikh Hamid, the Principal of IBTE Central as well as the Principal of IBTE PLM Campus then brought the guests on a tour around the campus to view the training facilities available. They also visited the IS Industrie Brunei Sdn Bhd, one of the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) located in IBTE PLM Campus.
