IBTE’s programme of iSkillsTM NTec in Welding (Oil and Gas Industry) received equipments transfer from eight companies – Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd, PTAS Sdn Bhd, Adinin Works & Engineering Sdn Bhd, Zainal Daud Sdn Bhd, SC Company Sdn Bhd, Sahid Sdn Bhd, Serikandi Oilfield Sdn Bhd & Massutera Engineering Sdn Bhd.

The presentation was acknowledged in an appreciation ceremony held today at IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus, which was officiated by Yang Mulia Dr Hj Mohd Zamri bin Hj Sabli, Chief Executive Office of Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Sulaiman bin Manan and followed with a speech by Yang Mulia Hjh Siti Hazizah binti Hj Masri, Head for School of Energy and Engineering Satellite IBTE.

The ceremony ended with Doa Selamat, group photo session and Welding Workshop Tour.

The Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group in Construction (MISC-WG Construction), a committee under the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) with the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), launched the Dual TVET Programme during a ceremony at Musyawarah Hall, International Convention Centre on Saturday.

The Dual TVET Programme is not just about promoting vocational or technical jobs, it is meant to send a powerful message to the people in different occupations and industries and across all learning ages that we now need to add mastery of skills into our range of capabilities and deviate the traditionally emphasised academic learning and qualifications. The programme will equip youth with skills that will provide them access to the world of work and employment opportunities.

The Dual TVET Programme of HNTec in Construction and Draughting is a two-year programme where the students are trained both by IBTE (for institutional-based training) and by the industry (for the on-the job training). The Dual TVET students will spend 25 per cent with the industry to gain hands-on experience and 75 per cent in the institution. 

Out of the160 students who applied, 96 were eligible to enroll for the July 2021 intake.

JULY 2021 – Institute Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) organised an Orientation Ceremony today to welcome the second intake of teacher trainees for the Certificate in Technical Education (CTE) and Diploma in Technical Education (DTE) programmes with a total of 60 teacher trainees from Institute Brunei Technical Education, Polytechnic Brunei, Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force. These programmes are conducted by its recently established Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Academy.

The event was officiated by Dr Hj Azman Bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
