IBTE won first place for the Raya Musical Competition 2023 held by the Ministry of Education. The award event and video showcased during the ‘Majlis Ramah Mesra Sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1444/2023 Kementerian Pendidikan’ that was held on the 16th May 2023 at Lambak Kanan Primary School, Jalan 49, Berakas. The video had beaten 19 other videos that was submitted by each department under Ministry of Education.
One of the criteria the video had to fulfill was it had to contain a video clip of a Raya song which could be original or an existing one. The video was well received when it was shown and can be watched on IBTE YouTube channel..
The 2023 IBTE Raya video is a follow up of the previous 2019 IBTE Raya video that also won first place.

23 May 2023 – The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) hosted delegates from the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation, Kingdom of Thailand who were visiting Brunei Darussalam from 21 – 24 May 2023, at the Longhouse Training Restaurant, at IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus, Jalan Muara.

The delegates objective was to observe the teaching practice of the 2021 Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA) recipient, Cikgu Pengiran Haji Mohd Wahab bin Pengiran Haji Abdullah, an Assistant Senior Technical Instructor from School of Hospitality and Tourism. Cikgu Pengiran Haji Mohd Wahab recieved the award as a recognition of his continued contributions to the development of Brunei’s education in the area of cookery and culinary art. He was one of eleven recipients of the 4th PMCA. Cikgu Pengiran Haji Mohd Wahab had the opportunity to travel to Thailand in 2022 for the ceremony and received the award from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The Princess Maha Chakri Award was established in 2015 on the 60th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to honour Her Royal Highness’ dedication to educational development. The Princess Maha Chakri Award is one of the most important forms of international cooperation in the field of education in Thailand. It provides a unique opportunity for Thailand to support and promote development of the teaching profession and educational development, especially in ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste.

19th MAY2023, IBTE School of Hospitality and Tourism (SHNT) conducted Food Safety Awareness Course especially for Royal Brunei Airlines staffs today. The objectives of the short course were food safety and personal hygiene for hospitality industry.
The instructors for this short course is the expertise food handling namely; Cikgu Muhammad Fadhil bin Hj Abu Bakar.

The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli said it is essential for public and private sectors to work hand-in-hand to deliver critical services, to ensure technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, such as IBTE, stay relevant and meet the skills set required by industries.
He believed it is timely to introduce an annual appreciation event as part of IBTE’s effort to recognise contributions from its partners and stakeholders, including associations, business chambers, non-governmental organisations, tripartite partners and staff.
IBTE held its first appreciation day at the main conference hall of International Convention Centre, Berakas yesterday.
Dr Haji Mohd Zamri noted several achievements made such as the development of new programmes driven by industry demands including iSkills; dual TVET and BOVEA programme, the establishment of IBTE Authentic Learning Centres and IBTE Approved Centres; and the increase in collaborations with industry partners locally and regionally.
For the past two-years, he said the employment rate for IBTE graduates has seen an increase, with 2022 surpassing the target of 75 per cent at 77 per cent; and the satisfaction rate among IBTE graduates at 91.2 per cent. To date, he said IBTE has 238 active collaborations with industry partners from both public and private sectors.
Yesterday’s event also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to IBTE’s 14 retired officers and staff, as well as to industry partners who were able to attend.
