SATURDAY, 29th July- The Brunei History Centre collaborate with IBTE Nakhoda Ragam Campus to held a programme event with theme ‘Menelusuri Salasilah Sultan-Sultan Brunei yang terbilang’ (Exploring the Ancestry of the Eminent Sultans of Brunei). This programme is in conjunction with the celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muʿizzaddin Waddaulah 77th Birthday.

Present as the guest of honour is YM Cikgu Noorisman bin Mentarais, The head School of Building Technology Services and the Central Campus management comprises of the Head of Schools, Operation Managers and Academik Managers.

Also in attendance of the programme is Acting Head of the penBORNEO Division, YM Dr. Mardiah binti Haji Ramli.

Over 200 students from the School of Building Technology Services and the School of Energy and Engineering attended the programme.

The programme also included an exhibition and several activities that were aimed to deepen the understanding on the history of the Sultanate and to instill the patriotism in the students.

SINGAPORE, 27 JULY-The 13th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2023 officially had its Awarding Ceremony today at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Congratulation to Mohammad Adam Lufti bin Mohammad Fadillah from School of Hospitality and Tourism, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus for receiving ‘Best of Nations Award, Medallion of Excellence under Cooking Skill Area‘.

Thank you and very well done to all of the Brunei representatives of the WorldSkills ASEAN 2023 competition for their commitment, determination and passion throughout the international competition.

Head of delegate, team leaders and competitors have departed this afternoon for the 13th Worldskills ASEAN Singapore Competition 2023. The participants comprises of nine from Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), two from Politeknik Brunei (PB), Ministry of Education (MoE), and two from Youth Development Centre from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The representative from Brunei Darussalam will compete in eight skill areas; Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Information Network Cabling, IT Software Solutions for Business, Cooking, Restaurant Service, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Fashion Technology and Beauty Therapy. 

The event is set to stage from the 23rd to 25th July 2023 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2023 is an event for the top technical students from ASEAN region to compete in a total of 22 skills areas. ASEAN member countries take turns hosting the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition once every two years. The competitors represent the best skilled talents and are selected from national skills competitions in ASEAN member countries. They demonstrate highly skilled technical abilities both individually and collectively in their respective industries.

TUESDAY, 11 JULY 2023- A national flag handover ceremony for participants of WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore 2023 is held today at the The Longhouse Training Restaurant in IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus (IBTE SSRC). 
Present as the guest of honour is YM Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education. 

Also in attendance are Dr. Hj Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, IBTE’s Director of Technical Educaion / Chief Executive Officer and Lim Kian Boon, Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei. 
WorldSkills ASEAN is the largest showcase of professional and technical skills in the ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region and brings the objectives of the WorldSkills movement to Southeast Asia. 
The skills competition was initiated by an agreement among ASEAN member countries in 1993 and aims to promote and raise skills standards in the ASEAN region to an international level, as well as to motivate youths to develop their skills and knowledge. 

ASEAN member countries take turns hosting the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition once every two years. The competitors represent the best skilled talents and are selected from national skills competitions in ASEAN member countries. They demonstrate highly skilled technical abilities both individually and collectively in their respective industries. 


For this year’s WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore 2023 competition, Brunei Darussalam will be represented by thirteen (13) competitors comprising nine (9) competitors from Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), two (2) competitors from Politeknik Brunei (PB), Ministry of Education, and two (2) competitors from Youth Development Centre from Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. 

The head of delegate to WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore 2023 for Brunei Darussalam is Dr. Hj Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli. 
WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore 2023 will have 22 skills area open for competition, and Brunei Darussalam will only participate in Eight (8) skill areas, namely:  
i. Refrigeration and Air-conditioning 
ii. Information Network Cabling 
iii. IT Software Solutions for Business 
iv. Cooking 
v. Restaurant Service 
vi. Mechanical Engineering CAD 
vii. Fashion Technology 
viii. Beauty Therapy 

IBTE graduates from the year 2022 in HNTec in Travel and Tourism programme have left the country to Phuket, Thailand to participate in the ASEAN-ROK TVET Mobility Programme, which is held at Phuket Vocational College.

The graduates are Nur Humaizah binti Hj Mohammad Bohari, Nurul Saiyidah Nafisah binti Haji Mohneh and Nur Zahidah binti Abd Hamid.

Present to send off the participants at the Brunei International Airport is the Director of Technical Education/IBTE Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli.

Two IBTE students; Mohammad Ikhmal Waffie bin Nordani from HNTec in Electronic and Communication and Hazif bin Haji Kefli from HNTec in Building Service Engineering are also participated in the ASEAN-ROK TVET Programme and send to Cambodia at Preahkosomak Polytecnic Institute.

IBTE Acting Principal Satellite Campus, Dr Suhaimi bin Haji Abdul Wahab was present to send off the student at the Brunei International Airport.

The aims of the ASEAN-ROK TVET Mobility Programme are to strengthen selected TVET sectors and programmes in ASEAN through harmonisation, enhancement and development of: (1) quality assurance; (2) qualification standards; (3) capacity building of TVET personnel; and (4) intra-ASEAN student mobility through internships and faculty exchange.

The Programme is envisaged to contribute to reducing the gaps between the demand and supply of vocational skills and improved human capital to remain competitive. In doing so, the Programme would also contribute towards improvement of TVET image and increase awareness on TVET prospective contribution to employment, education and business productivity.

6 JULY- School of Hospitality and Tourism, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus was invited to The Launch of Competencies Framework & Career Pathway for Hospitality and Tourism Sector & Language Course for Tourist Guides Certificate Presentation today, held at Banquet Hall, Prime Minister’s Office. The ceremony was organised by Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

The ceremony was also dedicated to the graduates from IBTE that have been employed by Hospitality and Tourism Industry. The programmes they enrolled in IBTE that have shaped the graduates’ careers that are in line with the industry have been honoured in conjunction with the launching of competencies framework for Hospitality and Tourism Sector.

The graduates were some of the recipients of certification presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of Finance and Economy II & as a Chairman of Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) as the Guest of Honour of the event.

SHNT Students from HNT02/H/HOS/17 undergoing HNTec in Hospitality Operation were also involved in the refreshments for the event.

IBTE CEO Dr. Hj Mohd Zamri bin Hj Sabli also attended the ceremony along with Head of School, Programme Leaders and Instructors that supported the students throughout the events
