FRIDAY– Today’s event marks the culmination of the first cohort of the ASEAN-ROK TVET Mobility Programme in Brunei Darussalam.

19 participants from the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, Lao PDR, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar who have successfully concluded their study in the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing (RQF) ran by Micronet International College.

IBTE is pleased to be one of the organizations to have hosted five participants during the OJT period, during which they worked with the Information Technology Services Division team to apply their learned theoretical concepts.

KUCHING– Two lecturers from HNTec in Real Estate Management and Agency have attended the 25th ASEAN Valuer Association (AVA) Congress 2023 at Riverside Majestic Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak that went from 18th September until 20th September 2023.

Cikgu Hjh Siti Hairaney@Hjh Irene Hj Shahri was the Chief Delegate of AVA-Brunei Chapter as well as the presenter for paperwork title ‘Raising the Bar on Responsible Real Estate Development & Valuations in Brunei Darussalam‘ at the Plenary Session.

Cikgu Siti Amalina Izzati binti Hj Md Sofian also presented the state report for Brunei Darussalam.

ASEAN Valuers Association (AVA) was established in June 1981 and currently has eight member countries comprising of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It is a platform to promote cooperation, create mutual understanding, establishing closer relationship, sharing of information, knowledge and experience in the relevant fields of valuation among valuers and allied professionals of ASEAN country members.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN- Opening Ceremony for IBTE Open Day was held at Dewan RUANG, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex. Presented as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Haji Norjemee bin Jenek, Acting Deputy CEO (Academic) of Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei (IBTE).

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, follow by Yang Mulia Haji Norjemee bin Jenek struck the opening ceremony gong to officiated the event. After that, the guest of honour was visiting each booths, showcase and exhibition done by IBTE students.

The Open Day was two days event, started on Wednesday, 20th September 2023 until Thursday, 21st September 2023. A total of 10 programmes in HNTec level, NTec level and ISQ level being offered for the upcoming February Intake 2024. The schools that involved during the Open Day were IBTE School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT), IBTE School of Energy and Engineering Central (SEEC) and IBTE School of Hospitality and Tourism (SHNT).

The objective of this event is to give the opportunities for the applicants and public to get to know more information regarding the offered programmes in IBTE as well as to seek consultation and suggestion from the instructors and the IBTE students.

The Continuing Education and Training (CET) were also involved during the IBTE Open Day, offering consultation on the short courses and programmes tailored for adult learners.

TVECAS Station service were provided for ‘walk in registration’ to the applicants who wish to apply to IBTE on the spot. IBTE students who involved in the event organised various activities such as Bake Sales, Barista Showcase, Traditional Brunei quiz and exhibition from each school.

Schools under the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education are very welcome to visit the event; which a group of students and teachers from Sekolah Sukan Brunei Darussalam had visited the IBTE Open Day for the consultations and activities.

WEDNESDAY- IBTE had received a benchmark visit from Pasir Gudang Vocational College, Johor, Malaysia on the 20th September 2023 to the IBTE Business Campus.

The purpose of this visit are to established a collaboration opportunities and friendship between lecturers and the management of Pasir Gudang Vocational College with IBTE and Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA), as well as to exchange knowledges between the two institution.

TUESDAY, BRUNEI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT– 21 students from IBTE were prepared to be send off to Lanzhou, China to study at Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT). Present at the Brunei International Airport for the send off ceremony were Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, IBTE CEO/ Director of Technical of Education, His Excellency Mr.Xiao Jianguo, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam and Mr. Chen Lian Cai, CEO of Hengyi Industries.

The ceremony started with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by brief remarks and word of encouragements from both His Excellency Mr.Xiao Jianguo and Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli for the students. The session ends with group photos before the students flight.

These students are the fifth batch to be awarded scholarship in Diploma of Refinery Operator under the Joint Scholarship Programme between Hengyi Industries, IBTE and Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT).

Established in 2018, the programme is part of Hengyi’s Future-Ready Initiative with the aim of empowering local talents with the knowledge and skills required

Hengyi Refinery Operator training program- a joint collaboration between HYBN and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) that established in 2018 as part of Hengyi’s Future-Ready Initiative that involve a 3-year programme; with one year of academic study at IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, one year study at LPUVT in Lanzhou, China and, one year industrial training at Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar.

HENGYI INDUSTRIES,PULAU MUARA BESAR- Scholarship Signing Ceremony between IBTE and Hengyi Industries was held on 14th September 2023. 21 students from IBTE were awarded scholarship in Diploma of Refinery Operator Batch 5 under the Joint Scholarship Programme between Hengyi Industries, IBTE and Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT)

Present as the guest of honour during the ceremony were IBTE CEO/Director of Technical Education, Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli and the CEO of Hengyi Industries, Mr. Chen Lian Cai.

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, follow by an opening remarks for the guest and students from Mr. Chen Lian Cia.

The scholarship agreements were signed by the awared students and witnessed by both IBTE CEO, Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli and Hengyi Industries CEO, Mr. Chen Lian Cia. The event ended with a group photo session.

Hengyi Refinery Operator training program- a joint collaboration between HYBN and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE)- involve a 3-year programme in both IBTE Brunei and Lanzhou Petrochemical College of Vocational Technology, China. The programme continues in Brunei where on-the-job training is provided for scholars at Hengyi Petrochemical Plant in Pulau Muara Besar.

Established in 2018, the programme is part of Hengyi’s Future-Ready Initiative with the aim of empowering local talents with the knowledge and skills required to become future leaders of Petrochemical Industry.

BRUNEI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT- A group comprising of six students, accompanied by Cikgu Johariani Binti Haji, instructor from IBTE School of Agro-Technology and Applied Sciences under the HNTec in Agro-Technology (Food Technolgy) program have departed for Malaysia to participate in the SEAMEO student exchange program to be held at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS), Kuantan, Pahang.

The students will study in POLISAS for 14 days until the 24th of September, and will undergo industry placement training for one week. It will act as a platform that provides an opportunity for the students to exchange ideas with one another, and raise their understanding on culture and regional perspective through various activities and visits.

BERAKAS, 4th September – IBTE held a Donation Drive Mock Cheque ceremony at the Longhouse Restaurant, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus, School of Hospitality and Tourism. The funds are donated to An-Nur Harapan Sdn Bhd and Learning Ladders Society.

Present at the ceremony as the guest of honour is Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education. IBTE CEO and Director of Technical Education, Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli also presented at the ceremony to expressed appreciation to those who involved in the donation drive event for its success.

This year, IBTE Donation Drive 2023 fund had successfully collected BND60,306.0 (Sixty Thousand, Three Hundreds and Six Ringgit and One Cent) 70 per cent of which will be channeled to IBTE fund whereas the remaining 30% was donated to the registered charitable organisations in Brunei Darussalam.

The selected charitable organisations; An-Nur Harapan Sdn Bhd General Manager Melline binti Haji Jaini and Learning Ladder Society Vice President Dr Nasibah binti Haji Abdul Samad received BND9,042.90 on the behalf of each of their organisations. Haji Norjemee bin Jenek, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Academic) also present to received BND42,200.41 on behalf of IBTE Fund.

These organisations has dedicated to run the training programs for children and youth with different abilities. These charity was established to empower people of different abilities to live independently by improving their social and personal interaction skills and providing them with the skills to get a job opportunities.

The IBTE Donation Drive 2023 is an annual activity that aims to raise fund for the institution to support IBTE mission to provide quality technical education and trainings as well as to ensure IBTE students welfare and comfortable learning environment.
