The Community Education Division (CED) provides lifelong learning opportunities which allow learners to acquire further knowledge and skills in relevant fields. By studying voluntarily with experienced teachers using structured/organised curriculum based on informal and non-formal education for instance, adult learners are able learn to develop their self-interests. The CED’s programmes offered are divided into two categories; academic and skills based programmes.
Objective
- To identify the training needs and coordinate the training and education programmes for the public.
- To promote education for the communities.
- Forge close cooperation with government agencies or NGOs to provide education and relevant skills training.

i. Registration for 1st intake will be opened around September / October for four districts, i.e Brunei & Muara, Tutong, Belait and Temburong every year.ii. Registration for the 2nd intake will be opened to public as soon as the Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ & A’ Levels (November) results have been released.
Terms and Conditions

iii. Applicant need to pay $3.00 for student pass;
iv. All subject fees are as stated.For the purpose of verification and record, CED requires all applicants to submit the following documents:
i. 2 copies of passport size photo
ii. 1 copy of identity card
iii. 1 verified copy of academic certificates; and school leaving certificateFurther information on the date of registration and where to submit documents will be published via Radio Television Brunei, TV ticker Brunei and Pelita Brunei.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
i. At least 2 credit GCE ‘O’ Level to join the army or uniformed personnel in Brunei Darussalam.
ii. At least 3 or 4 credit GCE ‘O’ Level to apply for relevant jobs in the public sector or join the job market in the private sectors.
iii. Further studies in the mainstream education (formal education) or join the many technical and vocational training programs offered by Brunei Darussalam technical schools/colleges or public schools.
iv. Further studies at higher education institutions, either locally or abroad.

c. LONDON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (LCCI)
LCCI programme currently courses offered are:
• LCCI – Level 1 (Foundations of Business) Fee: $28.00
• LCCI – Level 2 (Diploma in Book-Keeping and Accounts) Fee: $51.00
• LCCI – Level 3 (Diploma in Business Studies) Fee: $99.00Entry requirements:
• LCCI – Level 1: Completed Secondary School or having basic knowledge in related subjects such as Mathematics, English and Business.
• LCCI – Level 2: 3 BGCE ‘O’ Level passes in related subjects such as Mathematics, English, Principle of Accounts, Economics, Commerce and Business Studies.
Career Opportunities:
• Opportunities to work in the government and private sectors e.g. book-keeper, account assistant, banker, cashier and businessman.
• Level 3 graduates can go for further studies to Diploma in Accounting or Higher National Diploma, HNTEC in relevant field of study. - Opportunities to work in the government and private sectors e.g. clerk, secretary, stenographer, and office administrator.

Achievement of CED’s students
ACADEMICS UPGRADING UNIT
This unit offers Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level classes twice a year.
2. SKILLS TRAINING UNIT
This unit offers three categories of programmes:
a. Home Science – The programme offers knowledge and skills in cooking, sewing, weaving and handicrafts classes which help either directly or indirectly to the economic prospect of the learners.
b. Muqaddam & Al-Qur’an Classes – Students learn how to read the Muqaddam and Al-Qur’an systematically.
c. Short courses in home science are also offered to the public and the fee is set from minimum $5.00 to $10.00 per hour according to the nature and complexity of the course itself.

• Brunei citizen / permanent resident / non-citizen (Green ic holders)
• Aged 15 years and above
• Paying student pass $3.00 (long course only)

• 2 pcs of smart card-size photo (for the use of student pass and registration form)
d. Typing and Shorhand Courses – These courses provide opportunities for secretary, stenographer and administrative staff to upgrade their skills and knowledge. Those who have completed their courses are eligible to sit for the public examination which can enhance their chances for promotion or salary increment besides gaining skills for personal improvement or self-satisfaction.

Registration:
• In September/October yearly (Brunei & Muara/Tutong/Belait & Temburong).
• Applicants can get the registration form from CED during office hours from 7.45 am to 12.15 pm and 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm (Mon to Thurs & Saturday).
• Documents needed: 2 photocopies of identity card & 2 photos (IC size).
• Additional document: Students who have passed examinations at a lower level class for typing & shorthand are required to submit a copy of their examination results so they can proceed to study at the next level of relevant course.
• Payment should be made during registration with additional charge of $3.00 for student pass.
Entry Requirement:
• Open to public (Citizen & Non-Citizen)
• Must be 15 years old and above (students/school leavers/adult learners)
• For typing class: student need to have his/her own a manual typewriter
Additional Requirement:
• Private sectors workers who are interested to enroll onto Typing or Shorthand Courses are advised to get permission or approval from their respective supervisor/employer before applying.
Other Information:
• Examination is usually taken in June and November, twice yearly. The registration & examination is conducted solely by the Examination Department, Ministry of Education.
