What are IBTE Residential Colleges?
IBTE Residential Colleges are on-campus hostels that provide affordable living spaces for IBTE students. All rooms are furnished with study table, chair, bed and mattress.

Who are eligible for residential accommodation?
The residential accommodation gives priority to registered IBTE students who:
IBTE will consider students that do not meet the criteria if there are spare capacity in the Residential Colleges, however it will be on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to terms and conditions set.

Who are IBTE residents?
These are students who reside or live in IBTE Residential Colleges.

Resident’s responsibilities
Residents are expected to always behave respectfully and responsibly while living in the residence. To ensure everyone enjoys a safe and comfortable living experience, all residents must comply with the established code of conduct.

What is the Student Residential Welfare fee?
It is a contribution made by residents to support ongoing improvements to the residential environment. The welfare fee will help enhance the welfare, comfort, and well-being of students living in the residence.

What is the main purpose of IBTE introducing the Student Residential Welfare Fee?
The primary purpose of the Student Residential Welfare Fee is to improve the overall welfare, comfort, and well-being of students. While the Government of His Majesty generously covers the majority of the residential’s operational costs, — such as accommodation, transportation, and meals— this fee is specifically intended to support enhancements in the quality of the student residential environment. It helps fund better facilities and contributes to the expenses of activities organized within the IBTE residential community.

The implementation of the Student Residential Welfare Fee will begin in July 2025.

Is the Student Residential Welfare Fee the same across all IBTE campuses?
Yes, the Student Residential Welfare Fee is uniform across all IBTE campuses for all students.

Is the payment made annually or per semester?
Students living in the residentials are required to make the payment on a per-semester basis.

How much is the fee?
Students are encouraged to make timely payments to ensure continued access to residential services, all payments and refundable deposits must be made within 7 days of the resident’s check-in date.
Students are allowed to pay on an installment basis at the discretion of Operation Managers, provided that the total amount is fully settled by the end of the semester.

What are the fee collection processes?
12.1 Payment timing
Payments must be made during the designated operating hours of the finance counter.

Are underprivileged students also required to pay the Student Residential Welfare Fee?
Yes, underprivileged students are still required to pay the Student Residential Welfare Fee.

Can the Student Residential Welfare Fee be paid in instalments?
Yes, students may pay the Student Residential Welfare Fee in instalments. However, this is subject to the discretion of the Operations Manager at each campus, and the full amount must be settled before the end of the semester.

Are students required to pay a deposit?
Yes, students are required to pay a deposit of BND $50.00 at the finance counters of the campus where they will be residing, namely, IBTE Agro-Technology Campus, IBTE Nakhoda Ragam Campus or IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, whereas the Student Residential Welfare Fee for the first payment can be made at respective campuses.

Will the deposit be refunded to students after completing their study at IBTE?
Yes, the deposit will be refunded to students after the check-out process is completed. However, this is subject to a room inspection and confirmation that there are no damages or additional charges to be paid. The refund process may take some time, and the campus will contact students once the deposit is ready to be claimed.

Will the Student Residential Welfare Fee apply only to new students starting in July 2025, or will it also include current students?
The Student Residential Welfare Fee will apply to all students, including both new and current students, starting from July 2025.

Are pets allowed in the residences (for programme-related needs)?
Generally, students are not allowed to bring pets into the residences. However, any request to bring a pet for programme-related purposes may be submitted to the residential management for consideration.
