Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the three programmes are as follows:

  • Diploma in Technical Education
General Minimum Entry Requirements
This programme is open to Citizens and Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam and non-citizens residing in Brunei Darussalam.  

1. Minimum Qualifications (either one of the following): Hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) or higher qualification in a related field or its equivalent (Refer to Appendix 4)  

All qualifications must be accredited by Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC).

AND  

2. Minimum English Requirements (either one of the following): GCE Ordinary level – A Credit Six or better in English Language IGCSE English (as a Second Language) – grade ‘B’ or better IELTS (Academic Module) – overall score 6.0 TOEFL – score 550 For other methods of examination not listed above, refer to Appendix 4.  

For IELTS, TOEFL and other methods of examination not listed above: These tests must be taken no more than two years prior to commencing your training at IBTE Training Academy.

Where you have more than one proof of English proficiency, only the most recent qualification and score will be considered.

AND

3. Minimum Mathematics Requirement (either one of the following): GCE Ordinary level – A Credit Six or better for Mathematics D
OR a Pass (at least grade E8) in Additional Mathematics. IGCSE – grade ‘B’ or better. For other equivalent qualifications, refer to Appendix 4.    

AND

4. Pass interview conducted by IBTE Training Academy as per requirement of the Programme applied.  
  • Certificate in Technical Education
General Minimum Entry Requirements
This programme is open to Citizens and Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam and non-citizens residing in Brunei Darussalam.  

1. Minimum Qualifications (either one of the following): Hold a Higher National Technical Education Certificate (HNTec or its equivalent) or higher qualification in a related field or its equivalent (Refer to Appendix 4).  

All qualifications must be accredited by Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC).                  
OR Hold a Foundation in Technical Education from IBTE Training Academy. Note: Foundation in Technical Education’s holder will be exempted from both  minimum English and Mathematics requirements (part 2 and part 3 as given   below).

AND

2. Minimum English Requirements (either one of the following): GCE Ordinary level – A Pass (at least grade E8) in English Language. IGCSE English (as a Second Language) – grade ‘C’ or better. IELTS (Academic Module) – overall score 5.0 TOEFL – score 500 For other methods of examination not listed above, refer to Appendix 4.  

For IELTS, TOEFL and other methods of examination not listed above: These tests must be taken no more than two years prior to commencing your training at IBTE Training Academy. 4. Pass the entrance test conducted by IBTE Training Academy.

5. Pass interview conducted by IBTE Training Academy as per requirement of the Programme applied.  
  • Foundation in Technical Education
General Entry Requirements
This programme is open to Citizens and Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam and non-citizens residing in Brunei Darussalam.  

1. Those who do not meet the academic entry requirement for Certificate in Technical Education, can apply for this programme.  

AND  

2. Passed the entrance test conducted by IBTE Training Academy.    

AND  

3. Passed interview conducted by IBTE Training Academy as per requirement of the Programme applied.
