Saturday, 8th February 2025 – The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) proudly unveiled its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan during the Higher Education Expo at Bridex Hall, Jerudong. The launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education, marking a significant milestone in IBTE’s ongoing commitment to advancing technical and vocational education in Brunei.
IBTE has played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s skilled workforce, contributing to Brunei Darussalam’s economic growth and prosperity. As the global landscape evolves, the demand for a highly skilled, innovative workforce has never been greater. To remain at the forefront of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), IBTE is committed to continuous adaptation and progress.
The IBTE Strategic Plan 2025-2030 outlines an ambitious vision for the institution’s future. With its Vision to be ‘A Globally Recognised TVET Provider, Equipping Learners to become a Future-Ready Workforce’ and its Mission ‘To Empower Learners with Industry-Relevant Competencies through Dynamic Collaborations with Key Stakeholders to Cultivate Highly Competent and Adaptable Workforce’, IBTE sets a clear roadmap for innovation and excellence. Building upon past achievements, this plan strengthens IBTE’s role as a dynamic and progressive institution, aligning with national and international educational advancements. It emphasizes adaptability, sustainability, and global competitiveness, ensuring IBTE remains a leading TVET provider both regionally and internationally.
A key priority of the 2025-2030 plan is student success. IBTE remains dedicated to transforming learners into skilled professionals through immersive, industry-relevant education. Beyond technical expertise, the institution seeks to instill a growth mindset, resilience, and a deep sense of community and environmental responsibility. By enhancing curriculum offerings, expanding global internships and partnerships, and strengthening 21st-century skills, IBTE aims to prepare students for success in an ever-changing world.
The strategic plan is structured around four core objectives, aligning with Brunei Vision 2035, the Ministry of Education’s Strategic Plan 2023-2027, the Brunei Manpower Blueprint, and the Economic Blueprint for Brunei Darussalam. Additionally, it supports SEAMEO VOCTECH’s 7th Five-Year Development Plan, reinforcing IBTE’s relevance within ASEAN and beyond. This alignment fosters greater collaboration and positions IBTE as a key driver of national and regional workforce development. As IBTE embarks on this new chapter, the institution extends its deepest gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the formulation of this strategic plan. With the unwavering support of the IBTE community, this initiative will propel the institution towards a future defined by excellence, sustainability, and global recognition.
