The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli said it is essential for public and private sectors to work hand-in-hand to deliver critical services, to ensure technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, such as IBTE, stay relevant and meet the skills set required by industries.
He believed it is timely to introduce an annual appreciation event as part of IBTE’s effort to recognise contributions from its partners and stakeholders, including associations, business chambers, non-governmental organisations, tripartite partners and staff.
IBTE held its first appreciation day at the main conference hall of International Convention Centre, Berakas yesterday.
Dr Haji Mohd Zamri noted several achievements made such as the development of new programmes driven by industry demands including iSkills; dual TVET and BOVEA programme, the establishment of IBTE Authentic Learning Centres and IBTE Approved Centres; and the increase in collaborations with industry partners locally and regionally.
For the past two-years, he said the employment rate for IBTE graduates has seen an increase, with 2022 surpassing the target of 75 per cent at 77 per cent; and the satisfaction rate among IBTE graduates at 91.2 per cent. To date, he said IBTE has 238 active collaborations with industry partners from both public and private sectors.
Yesterday’s event also saw the presentation of certificates of appreciation to IBTE’s 14 retired officers and staff, as well as to industry partners who were able to attend.
Three IBTE current staff members also received Employee Recognition Award for their services:
Cikgu Hajah Norazlina binti Othman – Pegawai Pelajar Kanan (Teknikal), Divisional Director of Corporate Affairs
