FRIDAY, 18th AUGUST 2023- IBTE held a talk title ‘Sexual Harassment in Workplace Awareness’ at Lecture Hall, School of Aviation (SOA), IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus. The talk was organised by IBTE Headquarter Legal Office.

Around 40 IBTE students who are undergoing September industrial attachment attended the talk.

The purpose of this talk is to raise awareness and prevention of sexual harassment in workplace and what legal actions would be taken to the preparator. It also discussed on how to identify sexual harassment and how it can affect a person.

The talk explained what are the legal procedures when reporting to authorities and where to report, should they are being harassed.

Types of sexual harassment

Students who will be undergoing Industrial Attachment are advice to report their Industrial Liaison Officer or IBTE Human Resource Division, if they experience any sort of harassment during their attachment period.

TUESDAY, 15th AUGUST- IBTE staffs member had attended the ceremony to celebrate Ilal Hijrah 1445H/2023M at the IBTE Headquarter. Present as the Guest of Honour is Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, CEO of IBTE/ Director of Technical Education. Also present at the event is YM Ustaz Md Isham bin Ismail from Pusat Dakwah Islamiah Brunei Darussalam as the guest speaker.

WEDNESDAY, 9th AUGUST- The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) welcomed 1828 new students for August Intake 2023 during the Orientation Ceremony which held at Plenary Hall, ICC Berakas. Present as the Guest of Honour is Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, CEO of IBTE/ Director of Technical Education.

The event began with singing National Anthem lead by the IBTE Student Councils, then a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by opening remarks by IBTE Acting Deputy CEO Academic, Norjemee bin Jenek.

During the Sharing Session, each of the new student representatives from every IBTE campuses did a presentation of their own experiences during the orientation week in their own respective campus.

TUNGKU, 7th AUGUST- Ten officials from Pedro E. Diaz Highschool, Philippines is visiting IBTE Mechanical Campus as part of their four-day visit to SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre, Brunei Darussalam. The ten officials comprises of Curriculum Chiefs, Supervisors, School Heads/Principals, Master Teachers and Young Professionals.

The purpose of this visit is to explore and gain insights into the state-of-the-art facilities in the fields of automotive, furniture and cabinet making, cookery, computer, and robotics. The delegation is also keen on benchmarking the best practices in these areas during their visit. 

Present to welcome the delegates is Cikgu Armi Durani bin Haji Durhman, the Acting Principal IBTE Central. The event started with the recital of Al-Fatihah and a brief video presentation on the safety and the introduction to IBTE.

The Head of the School give a presentation on the School of Energy and Engineering Central to share the programmes offered in the IBTE.

The delegates also toured the IBTE Mechanical Campus Heavy Vehicle Mechanics Workshop and the Automobile Workshop. The instructors and students shared the importance in handling the proper equipment and machinery when running the programme.

TEMBURONG, 3th AUGUST – A total of 90 trainees comprising students who attended the iSkills and Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) programmes at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) have successfully completed the Program Jati Diri for iSkill Kohort 3 students for 90 days and celebrated at the closing ceremony at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp, Batu Apoi, Temburong, today.

Present as the guest of honour was Dr. Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) in the Prime Minister’s Department. Also present at the event were the Directors of the department under the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Culture and Sports, and Permanent Secretariat MPEC, Director of Jobcentre and MISC LEADS.

Program Jati Diri, which was organised in collaboration with the Permanent Secretariat of Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), National Service Division (BKBN) and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), aims to instill strong values of personality and identity among the students.

The aim of the Jati Diri Programme is to enhance, nurture and strengthen integrity, discipline, sense of responsibility, religious principles and also change the minds of the trainees to be more resilient.

Prior to this Identity Program training, trainers have completed 6 months of study at IBTE, 3 months at Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and 3 months of work placement within the industry.

Several components have been emphasized in this Program Jati Diri, namely; 1) components of identity, religion and statehood, 2) components of discipline and physical training, 3) entrepreneurial component and 4) community service component.

With these components, the trainees are expected to be better prepared physically, mentally, emotionally in the face of challenges and obstacles especially when stepping into an increasingly challenging work environment. In addition to inculcating moral values, trainees are expected to be ready to take on the tasks given with full responsibility and dedication in contributing to themselves, society and the country as well as serving as an exemplary example for future generations of the workforce.

Today’s ceremony also presented the best coach award, a video presentation showing some of the activities undertaken by the coach.

TUESDAY, 1st AUGUST- School of Building Technology Services, IBTE Nakhoda Ragam Campus participated at the showcase and exhibition of the 18th National Youth Day 2023, which held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, consented to grace the event.

Accompanies with His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and other royal families. The IBTE CEO/ Director of Technical Education Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, was also present.
